Mallorca, Day 9 - Final Biking Day

Saturday, 24 MarchSitting here in the lobby reading some news and catching up with others but also thinking what should my final day here have in store for me. One side of me says I should just go find a shady spot under a tree, take a book and enjoy the island. The other says there are still places I have not seen and I have a whole day still to just ride, just enjoy it. Which will it be? Of course, I could do a bit of both, ride short then park somewhere under and orange or lemon tree somewhere and relax. I really do not know what I will do yet. I will head to me room, meet dressed for the bike and head a bit northeast from here. That much I know. Then I will come to a crossing where exactly this question will have to be answered. As usual, I will update you here after I have crossed that point. Till then, here was my breakfast this morning. Just a sample of what I eat here.(breakfast)

After about 30 minutes I was honestly ready to head back to the hotel to just pack it all up. I was exhausted. At that point I saw this road sign, and it gave me a good reason to stop and take a picture.(what my legs were saying to me)
20120324-184700.jpgIt said just about everything I was feeling. My thighs were burning and I was wondering what I was doing. The winds were all from ahead as well. But I made it to Santa Maria and I found my second wind. Once I was on the Cami de Muri it really rolled. I rode an out and back from there, back through Palma and along the coast as I have ridden many times this week. All in all I made over 3 hours and another 80 or so kilometers which was pretty good. I know as well, that not all rides Re good rides and some are better to just pack in and save for another day. Today was one of those days. But it was my last day as well here for riding and I just had to do it.One of the strange things I did like or at least look forward to each day was the lunch break. As I had written about over these entries, I did catch a picture of the lunch station which was set up each morning in the bike cellar. Nothing but a banana and a roll. But after 2 hours I really got excited with the thought of the food in my back pocket.(food station)
20120324-185659.jpgI will put some of my reflections together later after I depart. Tomorrow is a day without a bike and will head to Palma for some sightseeing. I don't fly until the evening.Daily stats: 3h30m, 86km, 145 HR, temp 21C, 300m climbing, 2300 calories spent, PE medium-hardbackCamp Totals = 35h, 753km, 5500m, 24000cal
