Project 33 Days - Day 26
Tuesday, June 21, HomeI thought I had an idea for today's blog entry but it was highjacked before breakfast. Better said, I thought my Boyz had been kidnapped.Yesterday was Jonny's class presentation which I missed (seems good I did) but he needed to go into school early today with his classmates to clean up after the event last night. It was pretty late and they all just went home. So he needed to catch the 7.05 bus which is 30 minutes earlier than usual. Somehow he convinced his 2 brothers to also go in early as well.So when I came down At 7 for breakfast they were all gone! They had all set their alarms, Jonny had showered, they had breakfast and had left. Neither Chris or I did anything. This is the first time ever. No waking, no begging to get dressed, no hurry ups to catch the bus. And all the final full day of the 6th grade. What a lesson learnt. They can do it. They can take care of themselves. They are finally showing that they can execute on a plan without us following around. I guess it is time for holidays to begin. Just wish all the classwork would flow like this, but hey this is great!I also had my final exam at the ear doctor today. I had a hearing problem on one side back in April and had come for a few tests then and the follow up was today. This was a three part test taking about and hour. First was a kind of pressure test on each ear where they measure the reaction of the ear, kind of like they do to the eyes. Then a headset was put on with electrodes connected behind my ears and to my collarbones. Ten a 20 minute test of sounds which changed sides was held. One side would have a jackhammer type sound where the other more white noise. This would swap sides and volumes. Really unpleasant. Finally there was an ear wash. Yeah, never heard of such a test either. This time jell receptors were connected at my temples and after calibration beginning with the right side a tube washed my ear with 45C water for maybe 15 seconds. I had to keep my eyes closed during the wash and immediately after. And I am glad I did. Wow! Did I get dizzy. It started slowly and then took off in a counterclockwise mode. Felt like I was on one of those playground turn wheels and had just been spun real hard. I was glad to be lying down for this as well. Once the spinning stopped, after 3 minutes or so it was repeated on the left side. This time it spun in the opposite direction but not quite as much. Again a break and this time repeated with cooler water. This had a lesser effect than the warm water did. All of this was measuring my eye movements. Waiting to see the doc now to discuss these test results. Also work stuff. My plans for the next week are coming together. I have two meetings in Zurich Monday next week and need to be in north England Wednesday/Thursday. So that will keep me pretty busy. Plus there is a plan to be in Oman at the weekend as well. 4 countries in 6 days. Sounds absolutely horrible.Doc says, all clear!
