Nawlin's T-Shirt

Boy, everyone knows New Orleans by now. It has been all over the TV here in Europe for the last 3 weeks. I was always used to being asked questions about N.O. once people found out I was from there. Questions usually rotated around whether it was worth the extra journey to go down there if one was on a U.S. holiday anyway.Sure, it is a bit out of the way. The "normal" tourist from Europe has the highlights inthe north east in mind or the national parks out west. Some are Disney fans and other want the real quiet outdoors and head north of the border. But I told anyone who would ask, New Orleans is a real treat. Maybe an extended weekend visit is enough but it really should not be missed. Then they would want to know when the best time to go is. Many had heard of Mardi Gras already but I would tell them there are just too many people in the city if this is your first visit. I usually told them that the end of April/early May was the best.At that time the weather is really picking up nicely and the fauna is in full bloom. But really I wanted them to go see the Jazz Fest. Simply the best chance to expierence a wide variety of Lousiana in a single area. A weekend at the Fest is something most people will never forget. Funny, while living there you forget about it every year. Now being away I'd do anything for a 3 day pass. But to the topic of this entry. My t-shirts are back out from the back of my closet. I had more than I thought. And I really like wearing them too. Anytime I am not at work there is a good chance I am in one of my t-shirts. Some are from the Fest, like now. Others are from many running races I ran in back in the 80's and 90's. Some are really quite threadbare but I can't stop.So the shirts are back and on my back again. Time to rebuild and get through what has been destroyed. I will have many questions to answer from many people. I hope that soon their questions will again revolve around whether they should travel to Nawlins and when.
