How to get more out of your Created Content

I came across a guy online last year and on his web site it stated:

Just give me 4 hours of your time and I will give you a years worth of content

I was intrigued so I set up a call with him. Ben Baker has since changed his business focus (pivoted) but the lesson I took away from our conversation was that I needed to repurpose my own content. I was already making podcasts, writing long form posts but I was always behind in creating new content. Ben’s approach was to create a single long-form piece of content and then make a handful or even a dozen smaller pieces based on that one piece!

The example above is for an online webinar or any presentation you might have made. Then taking that whole piece and slicing it into many different types of content. While I am using this method I still have a lot to learn. I am busy now with my new business and creating many pieces of original content to support this. Most of this long-form material is evergreen meaning it will not go out of date anytime soon. This means once I get to a point of having enough startup material I can then go back and take nuggets out of those and create new content.

At least that is the plan.

Why did I post a Recipe?

I wrote a 5-part series on Content Marketing. It covered the following topics:

  • Why you Must Start with Content Marketing?

  • Why You Need a Content Marketing Framework?

  • How to Schedule your Content Marketing Efficiently?

  • How to Get More out of Your Created Content?

  • Why I post a Recipe on Social Media?

Recently I put out an Instagram Story where I shared the meal I was cooking. It was a collection of photos I took and on each I added the steps it takes to make the meal. Riveting, right?

So, why would I do this? One of the concepts I share with clients is to also share the “who you are” part of your business on social media. Russel Lolacher shared this great quote of his “be social and don’t do social media. Social media doesn’t need to be only posts presenting your product or service. If you are a business of any size your followers want to be informed about these but they are also interested to learn more about you.

My #WorkFromAnywhere Experience

I was on holiday last week in Italy but had agreed to give an online talk. The organiser asked me to talk about my experiences of working from anywhere. It was a very short talk, just to get the sessions started but it gave me time to reflect on many of the experiences I had made during my work life as well as those since I began my #WfA adventures.
