The Best Cities are Built for Kids

I met up with Chris Nolte at his bike shop Propel Bikes in Brooklyn last September. We met for an interview for my podcast which you can listen to but then we talked much longer than just the 25 minutes of the interview.

We talked about change, making change and how to do it. My passion for bikes has been with me my entire life. His came to him much later but the role he is fulfilling today is much more larger than my 50 years of biking. He is teaching and showing people how a bike can change the way people live, the way people experience their city. I told him that he should go in hard on finding and highlighting the "lifestyle" part of cycling. Find others who bike and share with us how they do it. How they manage to make biking a real part of their lives.

Today, over half a year later he posted this video. A video about a father in NYC who kids we giddy when they first rode his bike with him. He takes them (2 kids) to school and back via bike each day but more interesting is the conversation they have about the relationship one builds with their kids and with their community.

Chris, you are hitting all the registers here and I can only say I am very proud to have met you and had the chance to spend time with you. This is a beautiful story that I feel many more should see and experience. Thank you Chris.
