Damn you social media

I have no other way to reach out. Damn you social media!

I really didn’t set out to make this post nor this video but I found myself in a bind. I was on holiday and read a message on my favorite social media app. Watch the video to see the details. I had no plan to make a post or a video while on holiday but this was a cause I could not otherwise react to.

I know some might say this doesn't belong on LinkedIn but on Facebook. I don't care. I am not connected with you or the person in question on Facebook but here. I had no other way to reach my friend here but through a post on LinkedIn and hope his sister sees this and gets it to him. That is the world we live in today. I am not happy about this either but it's the fact.

I found myself in a trap. I wanted to comment, to show my support but without any way to do so. Our connections were lost when we left the company. We were connected using social sites and that worked just fine. Just when things got serious, like hospital serious, there was no social DM to help. How could I say “I am here and rooting for you!”?

So, I made this short video. A really rough one too. Not the kind I usually set out to make but time was of the essence. Reach out to your close friends, even those social ones. connect with them and let them know you are there. We have but one series here.

Update: I have received a DM from him and he is somewhat better. Asks we talk when he is in the right state. Yippee!
