Breaking the pattern

I stood in the window of my bedroom Sunday evening looking out at the setting sun and realized something, I had not left the house since the last Wednesday. Sure, I had made it to the mailbox as well into the garden but I had not actually left the house in 4 days!Good thing I had a train today to Cologne as that forced me to get dressed and leave it. I had been so busy, trying to get everything done before the summer holidays that my days had pretty much just blended into one another. The same routine every day, from early to late every day at my desk. Yes, I was making progress on my tasks and can finally see the end of the tunnel - I think. But not moving much except a few flights of stairs in over half a week is really a sad record for me.This is the final week before we fly off to Orlando for another summer's holiday with the gang. That will be really great but first I have to get through Cologne then off tomorrow to Zurich for two days. Good thing I am taking the train for all this and not driving as I am pretty tired and that would not improve things. I'll be back Wednesday night by 10pm just in time to pack for the trip the next morning.I was really surprised when I "stopped to smell the flowers" last night and realized I had been just stuck. Time to break the pattern is something I need to post on my office wall. Break the pattern called "pedal to the metal", "nose to the grinder", go go go. Sure, I love my successes but there are still other flowers out there needing smelling.Kölner Dom Juli 2012
