Project 33 Days - Day 1

Saturday, final travel daySo, I think this will be partly a daily run of what we did. Not sure yet. I am sitting on the first flight, seat 18F at the window on the way to Munich. Beautiful day today too. But back to the beginning.05.20 Alarm sounds. I wanted to throw it out the window. Just over 3 hours of sleep. Gosh was I tired.05.40 Coffee dripping and 'Born in the USA' playing through my phone. I walk through the house waking everyone. Then followed by John Denver's 'Leaving on a Jet Plane'. That got everyone going. I needed some Jackson 5 to really get me in the mood.06.00 House is buzzing now. Everyone is dressed and excited. I am tired and still thinking of the final steps before a real holiday can start.06.10 Quick shower and shave06.28 Maxi-taxi arrives. That is good. One less item on my list.06.32 5 suitcases, 5 bodies loaded into taxi. Off we go.07.10 Bags checked through to Charlotte. Time for breakfast.07.20 McDs in Terminal 2. It is empty this time of day. Too early for those flights to be departing.08.10 Security check. 2x PCs, 3x iPods, 1x iPhone. Timmi got caught with scissors. Got lucky they were really small.09.00 Sitting in 18F. Holiday feeling is beginning now.11.00 Bought a bottle of water, small bottle, for €2.50!11.25 Sitting in the second flight now waiting for takeoff. All going well. Nice start to a holiday.18.30 The lack of sleep had caught up with me and I had knocked off for a while. Never a good sleep on these planes but did feel good. It is dinnertime in my head and we have another 2 hours to fly. There will be a 'snack' in an hour, more pretzels I fear, then landing.Flying with the boys has become a real pleasure. Yes, the in seat movies do help pass a 9 hour flight better but just in general, they are relaxed, know the routine and neither Chris nor I have to do much except wave at them once every 4 hours to show them we are still here. Oh, guess that next wave is due soon.Airplane food just can't be good it seems. I had veg and the little boiled potatoes were cute but really boring. Oh, here they come with those moist napkins again. Guess it means feast time. As always, with a smile. The only reason I woke and am writing now is I could not remember if I had rented a car. Of course I had. But it was 4 months ago. The brief moment of panic got the iPad out and checked my TripIt. Of course, the reservation details long forgotten are all in there. TripIt also tells me that the rental begins in 2 hours. Nice thought and a fantastic application.Wow, time has passed. It is now Tuesday evening and I am finally online again and need to finally upload this post. Much more to write as well on other things. Family time now and that is just great. 33 days have passed. I blogged everyday, at times a bit delayed at posting but everyday. All but 3 posts were done like now on the iPad. This was as well a test of this technology to se how creation without a keyboard and standard pc would go. There are some items I have not figured out yet but this was very successful. Particularly the portability of a pad is a huge advantage plus the lack of need of power cables as the battery is really good.More to come on other subjects. Now off to setting up my new pad, yes, this was so successful I added a new addition to the family. And this final post or entry here is being written on it as well. Thanks for following.
