Growing up
Time is always in motion. This house is full of activity, from early in the day till long after sunset. Three pre-teen boys on the verge of adulthood, and father and mother trying their best to "just keep up". And that doesn't include the Joneses.Whether its clothes, girls, opinions, advantages or disadvantages, obligations and expectations all are in motion now. I remember when I was that age how happy I was when it was over. Well, I think I remember. Sometime in the last few months they come down for breakfast dressed for school. That seemed like it would never happen just a year ago. What a fight it was to get them in their clothes. Pretty much as relieving as when they could finally feed themselves or then later make their own breakfast. Ah, finally no more of early morning cries of "I'M HUNGRY!".This last week has seen another step in this process. A new comment never before uttered from the three and not coming from all at the same time.
I cannot go to school with this hair!
And off to the shower with 10 minutes before the bus comes to collect them. Water running. Hair dryer humming. Down then comes a smiling version of Justin Bieber - whoever that is.Midterm grades are being announced and they are all coming along really, surprisingly well. Comments across the board from their teachers, "you could have a grade higher if your participation in class was better". Asking then what is so hard about raising their hands......peer pressure.I am really happy I am not that age.
