Registered for 1st Race of 2009
It is that time of year. Even with all the problems professional cycling have had the last years, there are a few races still being organized. So, as with tradition, the first race of the year is in Cologne on Easter Monday. Yes, that is where I stood in the sticky snow at the starting line with a frozen rear cassette waiting until they canceled the race. Good thing too. Luckily they have been able to get the sponsors back together to put on another race for the pros and the rest of us.I have signed up for the short course, only 60 kilometers as it is the first one of the year. The race is 3 weeks later than last year so there is more time to prepare but I think I would rather wait till later in the season for the longer races. It is pretty hilly there so like in Erlangen last year this distance will be quite challenging. So, now with a few weeks of easy exercising I can begin thinking of how I will prepare for the new season and how I might improve over last seasons performance. Oh well, at least it will be lots of fun for sure.So the plan as it is shaping up for 2009 is:
14. April - Tour of Cologne - 60K (registered)01. May - Frankfurt - 60K (if the event still happens)16.-17. May - Gerosteiner Festival - Marathon (if event happens)21. June - Berlin Velothon - 100K (10K riders)??July - summer training camp - Central, FL22. Aug - Rad am Ring - 140K06. Sept - Zurich Metzgete - 104K?20?. Sept - Rothaus Riderman Bad Duerkheim - 100K?
