Happy Birthday

Happy Birthday

(I posted this message on LinkedIn as I had 100 private messages throughout the day.)

Thank you. To all of you who sent the lovely messages to me recently for my birthday; thank you.

I have notifications active on my phone and throughout the day, as each timezone came online the screen kept blinking, over and over until long after I had gone to sleep, at the end of my birthday. LinkedIn is my social site where I spend most of my time. I am very grateful for the people I have connected with, those who I know personally and also those I have met here on this platform. It has been a great addition to my sphere of interactions.

I thought about how to respond to all of the messages and I felt at first overwhelmed. Do I write to each of you personally? Do I write a single response and cut & paste it to all of the wonderful people? I thought ‘no’. That is not my style.

I found the video attached a year ago. It was posted on YouTube in 2008. The musician is someone I almost went to school with. Most of you will not know but there was a creative side of me, even as a young teen. In the mid-70s I auditioned at the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts and, well, was not accepted. The Marsalis family was well known by this time, mostly through the father Ellis. Wynton was not yet a household name, but that soon changed. That is as close as I have gotten to this very talented musician.

I share this video with you as a sign of thanks. Thank you for being in this network where I interact with, share my whims and laugh at your messages.

Thank you.
