Slalom Finals 2012 & a State Champion

What a great finish to the 2012 season it was. This weekend was the traditional season finals for Tim's kayak club in Bad Kreuznach which is only 40 kilometres away. It is always the last weekend of September and often it is the beginning of Autumn with those typical shorter days and cooler temps. Well, the days are certainly shorter and the paddlers who camp here said it was close to freezing during the night but it was an absolutely beautiful weekend to be outside and even in the water.HerbstslalomThis weekend is also the state championships for the two states of Hesse and Rhineland Palatinate so there are all the local clubs from these states but also open for others as well. In total there are 58 different competitions over the two days and almost 500 competitors. Tim competed in both the singles as well as the team competition where 3 boats make up a team and try to manoeuvre the parcours as quickly as possible without interfering with each other. Tim placed 14th of 50 in his division but won the Hesse State Championship! And was he pleased with his performance as well. The team competition went well and as a new team with a very young member they also were quite happy. Here he is, the Hesse State Champion 2012P1060538
