On Tour - September Part 3 - Into Africa
Well, I finally made it to Africa. Of all the years of travel and all the countries I have been to and through, Africa was one "place" I had never been. Now last night I flew across the entire continent in an almost due south tangent to get to South Africa. I am now sitting in the airport in Johannesburg waiting for my connection to Durban where I will be for the rest of the week.
First impression? 90% of the travellers here are white and 99% of the workers are black. But this is totally unqualified for the moment and I'll see what more I can add to that during the week. It is springtime here and a wonderful blue sky greets me. I exchanged money here and now have a large wad of bills and a few coins with animals on them. Cool.
After being in Serbia last week it is nice here to at least be able to understand most of the language again. I hear dialects which I cannot place but mostly it is comforting. Things here are colourful and different style of music playing in shops.
Now finally in the hotel room. Of course it was not clean since I arrived so early. 18 hours door to door it took and I can feel it too. There is a mall of sorts across the street. The Gateway it seems and full of things to do and eat so that sounds great. http://www.gatewayworld.co.za/home.htm
There is much to experience this week. I hope to have some time to explore when not working. Will report back later.
