Biathlon Time & Timmi

Well the big day came and it was a great fest for us all. Timmi was well prepared for his event and finished 5th in his age group. Only a few seconds away from 4th place. Tough stuff time trial are. After a week of clouds and fog with temperatures dropping the weekend cleared up just in time.

His race was an out and back in a kayak on the Rhine river. down river was really fast for them all but back against the current was really tough. The a lap around their local field which is also about a good kilometer. All in all his time was just over 20 minutes. And the look on his face as he crossed the finish was of real relief. With less than 4 weeks to prepare for an event he really did not like he proved to himself he can really do things he puts his mind to. Needless to say we were all very proud of him.

The best part, as far as his friends and brothers thought was the party after the Biathlon. Coffee and cake were just the warm up followed by hot stuff from the grill and a bon fire which kept us there till near 10pm. After 8 hours of fun on an October afternoon we cycled back home for a well deserved sleep. Yes, we all slept really well too.
